OUR
PHILOSOPHY

Chiselhurst may be one of the earliest, if not the
first, formal educational experience your child will have.
For this reason, we place great emphasis upon the
importance of sharing your child’s development with
you and creating an environment that is as relaxed
and friendly as possible.
It is important to us that we offer your child every
opportunity for personal growth. Child development
theory indicates that with a supportive play environment,
children benefit through opportunities that encourage
the development of:

A high self esteem;

A positive attitude to life;

Decision making skills;

Self regulation and concentration skills;

Good thinking (creative, lateral and critical skills);

Physical skills mastery;

Communication skills;

The ability to work with others as part of a co-operative
group;

Development of empathy.
At Chiselhurst we recognise the importance of early
learning in science, numeracy and literacy. We also
recognise the value of the expressive arts in education.
Music, dance and movement, sculpture, storytelling,
drama, drawing and painting are particularly important
to children as a means of learning about and expressing
their understanding of themselves and their world.
We welcome any approaches from parents to discuss
ways children can be encouraged in these endeavours
